![]() Producer Yoshimi Yasuda made the announcement earlier today on social media. In July 2022, Kadokawa Games successor Dragami Games announced a remaster titled Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP set to launch sometime in 2024. The upcoming Lollipop Chainsaw remake's game design is now described as a remaster, rather than a remake. Lollipop Chainsaw was released back in June 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It could be a new game, a remake, a remaster, or simply a rerelease on modern platforms which are all equally possible outcomes considering how so many other fan-favorite and cult-hit franchises have been revived or continued to some degree in recent years. Lollipop Chainsaw is a 2012 action-adventure hack-and-slash video game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It could potentially be a remaster on newer consoles, or it could be a sequel to the first game. It’s been 10 years since Lollipop Chainsaw hit Xbox 360 and PS3, but producer Yoshimi Yasuda has confirmed a remake is in the works and is coming in 2023. Goichi Suda, the CEO of Grasshopper Manufacture and the director of the original Lollipop Chainsaw game who's better known online as Suda51, recently looked back on the game's anniversary, too, though it's unclear how, if at all, he's involved with whatever sort of return is planned for the game.Īs indicated by Suda51's tweet above, director James Gunn was also involved with Lollipop Chainsaw, but again, it's too early to tell from Yasuda's tease alone who all is involved in this project and what the revival even is. Given that the game is now 10 years old, it fits then that Yasuda celebrated the anniversary around the same time as the announcement which was no doubt timed accordingly. #DragamiGames /RlcLrxMkKK- 安田善巳 June 14, 2022 Lollipop Chainsaw is back by Dragami Games. Announced by publisher Dragami Games which is led by the original games producer, Yoshimi Yasuda the game will arrive worldwide next year, although a formal title or platforms have not yet been. We’ll have to see what else is planned for the remaster as further details are divulged.Lollipop Chainsaw はドラガミゲームスで復活させます。楽しみに待っていてください…!!! After a tease last month, we have confirmation: Lollipop Chainsaw will receive a full remake in 2023. Yasuda previously said they were unable to include 16 of those songs. The only remaining sticking points are all those licensed songs. Theres also still no confirmation of platforms: Lollipop Chainsaw was originally released in 2012 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 but never made its way to PC. Now they’re taking things one step further with the move from remake to remaster. Then there was the whole question about censorship, which Yasuda said would be addressed in negotiations with platform holders.īasically, the more fans asked, the more Yasuda attempted to assuage their fears, noting that they plan to keep everything as close to the original as possible. That included pushing back against “baseless assumptions” that the team wanted to change protagonist Juliet’s design. ![]() Shortly after the announcement, Yasuda reassured fans, saying they don’t plan on changing the story or aesthetics in the remake. So, why exactly is this changing from a remake to a remaster? Dragami Games made a point of addressing concerns over changes in the past.
